YouTube lacks a lot of useful features that are available in other online video sites: a way to download videos, feeds for a user's favorite videos or for the comments of a video. So you can't download your favorite videos, or at least not directly from YouTube.
First you need a feed for your favorite videos and you can obtain one from
this site, which uses YouTube's API. Unfortunately, the feed only includes the most recent 10 videos. Other similar feed generators:
Referd,
Veille Perso.
To download all the videos from your feed, you can use
Miro, an open-source and cross-platform video player formerly known as Democracy Player. After you install Miro, go to Channels > Add Channel and enter the feed. Make sure you select "auto download all" and set the expire interval to "never" in the settings.

You can also download the recent videos from a playlist in a similar way. Although this is not a great solution if you already have a lot of bookmarked videos, at least you can automatically download all the videos you'll add to favorites from now on.
The format of the videos is FLV and you can play them using Miro,
VLC and other players or
convert them to other formats.

Or, from
http://www.youtube.com/rssls ...
Tags:
For example, if you wanted to create an RSS feed for the tag "monkey," you would enter: feed://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/monkey.rss
Users:
feed://www.youtube.com/rss/user/[insert username here]/videos.rss
For example, if you wanted to create an RSS feed for the user "YouTube," you would enter: feed://www.youtube.com/rss/user/youtube/videos.rss
(http:// works in place of feed:// for Miro, the user feeds contain more than 10 entries but not necessarily all clips from larger collections)
If you're a Firefox user and have the greasemonkey extension you can also use my greasemonkey script to download videos - which is available here:
Download videos.
The script adds a download link underneath the video description. Simply right click and save as.
YouTube doesn't offer a feed for the list of your favorite videos, just for the uploaded videos. While there are many ways to download individual YouTube videos, Miro lets you download all the videos from the feed.

all this is totally pointless.
just get downloadhelper for firefox.
it lets you
1. download embedded videos
2. download embedded songs
so onto of having all ur favorite songs, you can go to like www.projectplaylist.com and stream the music and download it for free. illegal yes, but who cares?
@{aaron, nick}
Probably the post and my comment weren't clear enough. Anyway, your ideas are not very useful.

The firefox add on 'download helper' is a lot quicker and easier to use-you just need to download real player of flv player to play them
Alternatively you could get 'Freez software' that converts them in to avi, wmv and mpeg.
I have write a similar post,
in Italian, about Miro/Youtube. But can I use Miro to see youtube video without download every time?
There's no preview feature in Miro, so you have to download each video before playing it (a YouTube video has around 10-20 MB). It would be nice if Miro played partially-downloaded videos.

You're using a cannon to kill a mouse.
Clear your cache then play the video on youtube. Assuming your using the firefox browser, when the video is done just type "about:cache" in the browser address window. Pick the bottom link on the about cache page (there are only two links there). Look for the large file with the fiename that includes "getvideo" and click on that link to download. Stick .flv at the end of the file named "get video" after downloading is done and play in GOM or videolan or a million other free media players players.
OR...even...easier install the new version of real player (11?) which will automatically download video files for you with one click.
It's extremely difficult to understand that I don't want to download a single video (there are many ways to do that and hundreds of sites, extensions, Greasemonkey scripts, bookmarklets, apps). I want to have an offline version of all the videos
I added to favorites in YouTube. Lets say I have 30 videos in "
My Facorites". I don't want to go to each video and manually download it.
The solution described in this post lets you download the most recent 10 videos from the favorites and all the videos that are added to favorites from now on. If you have a better idea, post it here.
But please note that this post is titled "Download
Your Favorite YouTube Videos" and not "Download YouTube Videos".

I think www.vixy.net is just easier.
Another online FLV to AVI converter is
Flvix, but I think it's more efficient to download the FLV file and convert it to AVI locally (FLV files are much smaller).

You may try this (for firefox). If you have just seen the youtube video, that mean the flv is in you cache. To download it again may take awhile. Try to look the latest large file in "C:\Documents and Settings\WIN_USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8_CHARS_RANDOM.default\Cache"
It should be something like this "1EF4DDD9d01" with some MB of size. Sort it by date descending. Copy it somewhere (desktop maybe) and add an extension to it so it become "1EF4DDD9d01.flv". Now try to run it with your favorite player. I hope this may help.

"You're using a cannon to kill a mouse."
No, he's using a video-enabled RSS reader to automatically download all of the videos in a feed, whereas the the many point-missers in this thread are suggesting how to download a single video.
It's as if he's described a photocopier and you're all posting about whether you prefer a number two pencil, a pen, or a typewriter.
I used this to point Miro to a Google Video RSS feed of all Google Tech Talks, and now I'm downloading hours of video with a minute's effort. Great tip.

Thanks alot for this and people should learn to read THIS IS NOT A SINGLE YOUTUBE VIDEO DOWNLOADER if you need that there are a million ways to do it. This as easy wherever I am on a computer with internet I can browse the youtube site and add a video of my choice to my favorits in youtube. This video will then be automatic downloaded at my home pc. Perfect way to do this.
An Open Letter to the Movie Moguls
It is too bad you movie moguls lose money every time someone illegally downloads a movie. Wow. I realize that it costs you a freakin' fortune, especially considering that millions and millions and MILLIONS of movies are illegaly downloaded every year, and that you are NEVER PAID for these losses. It is also a shame that Tom Cruise will make only $362 million this year instead of $425 million, all because of illegal downloading. (Who will cry for the Scientologists?) Once in awhile when I see one of your commercials, I actually feel bad about it.
Then I think about that incompetent design engineer you hired to design the cases for your DVD movies. This guy wasn't smart enough to devise a way for consumers to slide their fingers under the DVD and pluck it easily from the case (although my seven year old grandaughter could have designed it).
No, we must first get the wrapping off (30 minutes with a sharp instrument). Then we must remove the sealing tape from around three edges of the DVD case. Not one, not two, count 'em --THREE edges! What's the matter, afraid someone's going to steal the Goddamned thing?
Finally, we have to try to pry the disk out of the ridiculous case, bending the entire assembly into shapes for which it was never designed. ("Designed?" Sorry, poor choice of word.) Still, it is almost impossible to get our fingers under the disk to remove it. Great work, lads. (That was sarcasm. You've probably run across it in some old movies.)
Here's a suggestion:
Shouldn't you hide something with razor sharp edges under the DVD to slice up our fingertips as we try to remove the desk from the case? That would be consistent with your design theories, plus it would further punish the people who buy your movies, since you cannot punish the people who steal them.
Once we finally have the thing out of the package and in our players, we are forced to watch many, many minutes of your whining about people taking food off your tables (and Bentleys out of your garages) by illegally downloading movies.
You know, I think about you movie moguls a lot. I think about how many people are ripping you off. Wow. Night and day. Day and night. All day long. Every day of the year. Those losses must REALLY ADD UP!
It's like a horrible vision of some huge money pump relentlessly flushing YOUR dollars (millions and millions of them!) right into the sewer. Like a nightmare, really. So MUCH money! Awww, man!
During these times, I also think about your DVD packaging, and you know what? Fuck off.
