I think it'...Good comments, like from smallerdemon. I think it's good to bring this "issue" up, to wake us up: the world is not computers and internet. The tech world is just a small part of the "big picture" run by humans, who are small part of the whole world.

Actually, people who put computers and internet in high priority in their lives, may have gone too far. Not all of us, but quite often we're lost. Computers and internet are just tools, but some of us keep forgetting it. Some of us don't want to think about it, because it's so easy to live in this world you know.

I can create software applications, I can set up an old camcoder as webcam, or write web pages with Notepad. But I don't know why it takes 5 minutes for my XP to shut down, or how to track the problem down. I will never know enough!

We don't usually blame a person for NOT driving a car or flying, not riding a horse or not building one's own house, or even a chair. NOT knowing computers and software is NOT something to LOL about.

Also I wish that the word "tech" would not be used in this context, because even the field of technology consists of several non-computerized ... umm, stuff. Like machinery and electronics.

I'll go now out to see how the trees are colourless, waiting for the spring to give them the green colour...Some-Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16178770586262975454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18157064.post-86455996167803048862009-04-16T09:07:00.000-07:002009-04-16T09:07:00.000-07:00I think Google shouldn't have called it Google Chr...I think Google shouldn't have called it Google Chrome. Firms such as...You can't blame the users for this. Firms such as Microsoft and others have been trying to blend the OS and the browser and applications for years. The "average joe" user might...just might...understand the basics, but for every "average joe," there are lots of below average folks who just want their computer to work. I had a question from a user this morning whose default web search engine in IE had been changed from Yahoo! to Google, either by accident or by an IT contractor who was working on her computer. Afterward, it was changed back to Yahoo. When she started up her browser, she found that Google toolbar was warning her that her search engine had been changed. She considered that a Google pop-up ad, and couldn't figure out why her "Yahoo" had changed to "Google" and why she was getting pop-ups all of a sudden. For her, the browser and the "home" page and the default search engine are all blended together as one mish-mash.

Frankly, here we need computers that are as easy set back to factory standards as a router. I have to understand that these guys aren't here to work as computer people. They are hired to do their jobs, and hopefully the computer can help them in getting that job done. If they make silly mistakes like these, it's because those presenting the tools to them haven't made the distinctions clear, and possibly because they've been working to blur the distinction for years anyway.Oswaldnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18157064.post-38986434345494938412009-04-14T07:52:00.000-07:002009-04-14T07:52:00.000-07:00I agree with Sankeerth. The people who have Chrome "miraculously" installed on their computer are probably the ones who click the advertisement that says "your computer is infected with 62.9 million viruses...scan now."

I tell ya, I really hate the people that create these misleading ads, but I more-so cannot stand the people who fall for their tricks. It makes me wanna slap somebody in hopes of knocking lose the ignorance that has built up like plaque on their brain.

(run-on sentence coming...be prepared) I know I'm off-topic somewhat, but what I REALLY CANNOT STAND is when you've tried OVER and OVER again to explain to these idiots that they should avoid falling for such advertisements; and the next minute they're back to clicking, clicking, clicking as if life is full of nothing but truths. My God, that's like telling somebody to NOT stick their hand in a blender...but yet they do it anyway because somebody else told them Microsoft would pay them $20,000 to either do that or forward an email to all their friends.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15457923352034378962noreply@blogger.com
