Sorry if this is double post.)

Forward/reply simplification: good.

Compose:
Any task I'm going to dedicate time and through to (composing emails can range from a casual quick note, to dedicating some time and through to composing) I like to have in the central space of my monitor. I like it to be sizeable. The old system allowed this. The new system puts a large overlay area in the bottom right chat space. THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY. It being an overlay and not interupting the current page you are on is nice little addition. Not a big deal, but nice. They fact that it's in the bottom corner and not resizeable is maddening (to my tastes). PLEASE DON'T FORCE THIS ON US!!! Let us permanantly affiz if the ancor point is the bottom right of the browser, or top left of the message part of the gmail realestate (additional ancor points would be nice for those who want other placements like top center, or center center, etc). That's 1 thing. Thing 2: make the compose message size controlable, and that gmail remembers the latest used compose size.

I understand the graphic design principles of readability and design when it comes to column of text relative to length of message. But I still usually prefer to read and compose emails at full screen size on a 24" monitor. Lengthy emails I might resize my browser window for. But this functionality is already given through the browser window size feature. Adding another level of sizing is interface clutter. You are Google... you streamline clutter. So please don't add clutter.

The final problem with this is that the new forward/reply interface is not consistant with compose. forward/reply uses your regular mail realestate. Compose creates a different location and different size interface. That bottom right overlay business is perfect for chat. Distracting for compose. Please don't make this permanent as is. I have elected to use the old system until this is fixed, or you force me to change. As a truck driver I have not been able to effectively use Google Talk in this manner. It would be nice to have a selection in Talk that would be linked to it's current GPS location within a range of perhaps 5,10,15,and 20 mile radius and mimic CB Radio function allowing several conversations at the same time with the volume loudness corresponding to the geographic distance from the current GPS location (much like a radio would perform). In the event of congestion it would be nice to "limit the number of people interacting on a given virtual channel" only a few virtual channels would be needed as the software should limit interactions between individuals within a specific geographic distance. The application needs to be able to operate on mobile tablets and cell phones (using the Android system perhaps). It may be nice to also create a few "open virtual channels" with unrestricted range. The system should be of an open design so that it would discourage illegal activities. The software would need to operate in a dynamic fashion with constantly changing gps locations changing between participants. This would allow Truck drivers to throw out the outdated static filled CB radios with the bulky distortion filled microphones. In turn using modern blue tooth headsets, with the tablet/smart phone as a Radio, in addition to using it as a replacement for GPS maps, Weather Radar, Music, Phone, Clock, Calendar, First Aid reference, Tornado alert... etc.....

Thanks.... for reading.. and considering....
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18157064.post-70093363989529716382012-07-27T03:54:04.396-07:002012-07-27T03:54:04.396-07:00Be Roman when in Rome...
