I've always had a secret desire to own a Mac. Of course, I didn't do anything to get one, but today I've made my first step: I've installed FlyakiteOSX (mirror), which is an application that transforms Windows XP in a Mac OSX. Like magic. The package is more than a simple skin, it makes subtle changes:
* Command Console looks like the Terminal
* every folder can have a different color
* Spotlight clone with Google Desktop
* new effects for icons and folders
* shadows for windows and taskbar
* new cursors, screen savers, boot screen, wallpaper, Jaguar sounds
* new look for Internet Explorer, Outlook Explorer, Office
If you go to the site, you'll see a small version of an online Mac OSX desktop. The setup has about 30MB, but the result is a beautiful new operating system that makes your work on your computer more enjoyable.

ReplyDeleteThe latest gnome has the 3d feature incorpoprated. Tho it is not as jazzy as shown here for windows, it really looks damn good!!

ReplyDeleteNot being able to completely customize and build your own is pretty behind if you ask me, which you didn't, but I told you anyways :-)
Yeah... see that's old school thinking. HAVING to customize your hardware to get a job done is way behind the times...
ReplyDeleteYour situation is kind of like that of the lead letter printing press operators of olde... it's an amazing skill to be able to work with them, but unless you're at a historical reinactment, the talent has little use in modern times. Now self-customization of hardware hasn't quite reached that point, but it's well on it's way.
Oh and you CAN customize Macs, bud... and if you had the resources you COULD build your own... remember they ARE built on the intel platform now...
