I've been using Yahoo Beta for about 9 months now and it comes up very randomly. I suspect that when emailing others who use the Yahoo mail beta mail, for personal domains, not just for @yahoo.com addresses this comes up.
It would be more efficient to avoid a account to send "nearly identical messages to thousands (or millions) of recipients" instead of this idiot captcha prompt...
this is really great news..i hope google follows yahoo in using captcha.its really secure.. i've seen what pwncha can do but i hope that captcha's will evolve into a much more complex. i heard that captcha decode such as pwncha aren't 100% effective. this is really great news and bad news for spammers..huh, take that sucka'...
This "captcha" is a PITA & is KILLING ME!! I do NOT have the patience for this!! If there is no provision for me to "opt-out" of this "captcha" thing...I will(VERY SOON) be opting-out of Yahoo Mail!! The thing that really "teed-me-off"? When you click-on "having trouble reading this", it says "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO"! GREAT! So, in other words, you WANT to ANNOY me out of Yahoo email!? You're doing a fine job! Aprilee
This captcha crap is really p**s*g me off because when I try to respond to someone in any domain or even send new mail, I'm getting the captcha code - and I cannot even type in the box to use the code. My cursor DOES NOT even show up on the box to type. I am getting quite fed up with Yahoo and seriously going to have to consider switching all my accounts to Gmail and delete all my Yahoo accounts if they don't fix this captcha crap.
I can only assume the system thinks you are a spammer if you send over a specific amount of messages in a day? Take note, Yahoo, we regular people have emails to use them, not all of us are spammers.
Fix this captcha crap or you'll lose another customer. But then from everything I've seen over the past few years, Yahoo doesn't seem to care much what the users want.
just signed up to yahoo and having the same problem. can't even send an email to myself. Tells me the code is wrong every time I type it in but it's not!
I just created a new yahoo account, and can verify this captcha shit, so..perhaps it's only with new recent accounts? I don't have to do this with my old account.
I manage my mums yahoo mail account (which she has had for a couple years). Suddenly in the last couple of days she's getting pestered for a CAPTCHA with every outgoing email.
It's driving her nuts.
Poor effort Yahoo!
If spam is originating from her inbox, please notify her, don't piss her off. Otherwise I'll be switching things to Google. (Which I use and is fine).
I just got the same CAPTHA crap with my child's email account we just set up, he needs email for school. I sent one test email to my account which was in the contacts to make sure it went through and got this CAPTHA. Then we tried a few more to other family mambers and the same thing. What a load of crap. Stop the spammers, don't close down the internet for legit users. They are making these CAPTHA harder and harder to read to get around programs, but a B looks like a 8, 1 like an l, you can be there all day sending one email Come on Yahoo, your email addresses are the worst spammers, maybe just leave Yahoo to the crooks and the rest of us use GMAIL....
Bloody CAPTCHA! Thought I'd give ymail and try and got pissed off after sending 2 emails. That's it, game over Yahoo!
Perhaps you should not bother starting with CAPTCHA and if I then send 1000 emails in one day you might consider me a spammer and ask me to fill a CAPTCHA, not after my first measly little mail.....
Have 3 email accounts for various business needs. Will be knocking all of them on the head and moving onto gmail or hotmail. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Poor show Yahoo. Been on Yahoo since 1998, what a shame.
CAPTCHA is a bunch of crap. This is the second time in a month that my account gets locked up by this crap and I'm not even a spamer and have low email volume. Spent 2 hours chatting with a supervisor and no solution. Will probably switch to GMAIL since I'm getting very tired of this BS.
This is a recurring problem with Yahoo and they are not willing to fix it (or most likely are unable to). So instead of turning it off they continue to p..s off customers, even ones in their Premium program. So there is only one solution. Start the slow migration to GMAIL, notifying all of your friends, changing all log ins you have with companies and so on. Thanks YAHOO, your email service sucks.
yeah, it started happening to my daughter.I can understand trying to control spam, but they should atleast allow you to contact them to prove that you are not a spammer.I am in IT and if I treated my users like this, I wouldn't have a job.
This just happened to me. It's ridiculous I'm sending an email to the same person I've been messaging for more than a year without a problem. I have to call BS on this type of behavior. YAHOO is more annoying than the spammers.
Stop the captcha or atleast give us the option to turn it off if we would like. I send out monthly business emails to aprox 500+ customers. Im getting hit with captcha every single email I do now, for 3 weeks straight. Its annoying and its very frustrating at times when it wont send at all. Not due to a error in code but a problem has arised. Then it doesnt save my draft or allow me to go back to the email, it simply deletes it. This is crap, I may have to join many and start using Gmail.
I'm getting the captcha on one of my accounts too. I also am a member of a group that does a weekly project. Each week I send an e-mail out to the group. It's big and now I get a message that it might be spam when I try to send and to break it up into several smaller e-mails. WHAT?!?!
In addition I get the CAPTCHA on almost all my outgoing e-mails in that account. Not my other accounts, just that one.
I contacted yahoo support and the rep said is a "bug in system", "a spam flag being incorrectly set somewhere". Rep said workaround to fix bug ("clear the flag") is to send three (3) blank e-mails addressed to yourself (mark Not Spam when they come), then re-send the real e-mail.
That is an automatic answer from a machine. Yahoo doesn't use people for their service and ut shwos. When one of their managers is hit with BUG they will do something... Until then you can (off course) what I did. Move to other provider. Yagoo mail is the most annoyng when it comes to adds that run without tyour permissin downloading big amounts of data without your consent for which nevetheless YOU have to pay.
Hey! I fixed the CAPTCHA problem on my brand-new Yahoo account by simply deleting all Yahoo cookies! I can't believe it was that simple, it was driving me nuts!
Sent a couple emails, it was there, Deleted cookies related to anything yahoo, sent more messages minutes later, CAPTCHA gone. Give it a try.
Their CAPTCHA is wrong. Either that or I'm too dumb to read and write, 'cause I typed the CAPTCHA correctly every time, and Yahoo rejects it over and over.
I so would like to write an article about how Yahoo Login is a joke. If only their search engine isn't giving my other articles some traffic.
Lol. I think that Yahoo just killed any people that they are going to have people use their email now.
ReplyDeleteI don't get a captcha prompt.
ReplyDeleteI don't get one either. Are you sure you aren't a spammer? :)
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm a spammer
ReplyDeleteLOL, Bravo Alex.
ReplyDeleteAre they trying to be annoying? I think they just like showing off that they can do things...
ReplyDeleteNone here. I have been using this since the beta was launch and it never has come up.

ReplyDeleteLet's see:
ReplyDelete"E-mail spam is a subset of spam that involves sending nearly identical messages to thousands (or millions) of recipients by E-mail." (Wikipedia)
So how can a message sent to ONE contact be spam?
It would be more efficient to avoid a account to send "nearly identical messages to thousands (or millions) of recipients" instead of this idiot captcha prompt...
ReplyDeleteNo? ;-)

this is horrible I have had YAHOO for 7 years and just signed up for gmail don't have time or patience for this crap

ReplyDeleteSame here with a new account.. This is not usable for an every day email account.

Its annoying as hell. If YAHOO! wants to go down the drain, this is the perfect strategy
ReplyDeleteThere is a solution.
ReplyDeleteOnce you sign into Yahoo mail, click on Options tab and pick "switch to classic Yahoo". This will not prompt you for captcha code anymore.
Have 3 email accounts for various business needs. Will be knocking all of them on the head and moving onto gmail or hotmail. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Poor show Yahoo. Been on Yahoo since 1998, what a shame.

Same recuuring problem here for my wife. Both moving over fully to Gmail.
ReplyDeleteI have been locked down with this crap for 2 days, after forwarding a bunch of spam to the FTC.
