Easter Egg in Google Personalized Homepage

There's an easter egg related to the new themes added in Google Personalized Homepage. If you chose any theme other than Bus Stop and Classic, visit the homepage at 3:14 AM (your local time)*.

In the Beach theme there's Nessie, the Loch Ness monster:

And the "Sweet dreams" theme has a nice Pi:

Tea house:

Seasonal scape:

City scape:

For a way to see these easter eggs, check Ben's comment. You'll have to select a theme and inject the content from the CSS file corresponding to your theme:

http://www.google.com/ig/skins/NAME/NAME_3.14am.css

where NAME is in { teahouse, cityscape, beach, sweetdreams, winterscape }

* As you might know, pi=3.14159...

  5. Just a headsup - maybe common knowledge or not, but have a look at the choice you get when you go to add a new tab to your homepage....
It's still a bit US centric - I got more Australian news sites by using Australia for a tab name than when i tried News, but the Rugby one worked a treat !!!

  6. Shame I'm not up at 3.14am. Cheers for the screenshots :)

  8. Probably a sign of things to come. Branded themes etc.

  9. This is good - adds some life to the homepage.

However when I first sign in to google - it does not show me the themed homepage. For that, every time I need to click on My Account and then to Persnolized Page.

Any clue why I cannot get the themed homepage at first go?

    Thanks.

  10. My personal homepage still doesn't have this option on it. I have a google account for just about everything they offer.. are they still rolling this out?

  11. The regional time based themes change at 2 hour intervals, there is a separate stylesheet for each interval.

    Accessing the Stylesheet
    http://www.google.com/ig/skins/THEME/THEME_TIME.css

THEME - Should be replaced with a valid theme name. The regional time themes are; beach, cityscape, teahouse, sweetdreams and winterscape (Used "4pm" stylesheet for the example links).

TIME - Should be placed with one of the accepted time intervals, these are; "2am", "3.14am" (the Easter Egg), "4am", "6am", "8am", "10am", "noon", "2pm", "4pm", "6pm", "8pm", "10pm" and "midnight".

    Background Overlay Image
http://www.google.com/ig/images/skins/THEME/TIME/header_bg.gif (This image is usually .GIF because it is uses transparency to overlay the background image, however sometimes it is overlaid without using transparency. In these cases the file is called header_bg.jpg).

  15. I love the tea house theme so much. It makes me so happy. It reminds me of the elaborate xanga.com journal I kept about 5 years ago! Only without the wasted time on blogging. :)
I want to contact google and tell them that they got something right!

  23. I don't get it. Tea House is great, and because I prefer the night scenes, I set my location to a place where it's night during my daytime, but it worked erratically. One minute it would be night, the next it would be day. So I set the time on my system to reflect PM instead of AM. That worked, except people started asking me why I was emailing them in the middle of the night. So I switched back to a different location, and all is well, EXCEPT I'm not getting the Easter Egg anymore. One minute there's a plate of cookies, the next they're gone. But I miss the entire ghost scene, which is my favorite.

Any suggestions? I'm betting others have had this problem, too. I know I could use a script to set it manually (I tried that for a while) but that's kind of a hassle, and not as much fun, somehow. I'd love to hear any ideas.

  42. I LOVE the Tea House theme! The little fox is so cute! I have yet to see the ghosts, but may stay up early and see them at 3:14 AM. By the way, changing your clock doesn't work. I tried it. Either that, or I'm doing something totally wrong. This is cool Google, but maybe put this in all your themes. (Tea house would still be my favorite though. So cute and relaxing!) :)

  45. Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year,http://www.merrychristmasquotesimageswishes.com/2016/12/merry-christmas-images-pictures-wallpapers.html it is preceded by the season of Advent or the Nativity Fast and initiates the season of Christmastide, which historically in the West lasts twelve days and culminates on Twelfth Night in some traditions, Christmastide includes an Octave. Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians, as well as culturally by many non-Christians, and forms an integral part of the holiday season. In several countries, celebrating Christmas Eve has the main focus rather than Christmas Day.
