Now that FeedBurner is owned by Google, it makes sense to integrate with other Google services. One of the most requested features, a FeedFlare that shows the number of comments for each post from a Blogger blog, has been recently added. The FeedFlare links to Blogger's (ugly) comments page so you can easily add a comment if you read the post in a feed reader. Note that the comment feed has to be enabled in Blogger's settings page.
FeedBurner offers a FeedFlare API, but you need to do some server-side coding to create dynamic FeedFlares like the one that shows the comment count.
{ Thanks, Pat Hawks. }
Some of the official Google blogs have already enabled that few days or weeks ago.
ReplyDeletePat Hawks mentioned this in the comments of a post from April, but the FeedFlare didn't work for me at that time.
ReplyDeleteDoes Feedburner offer an RSS-to-email service? [like the erstwhile RMail.org?]
ReplyDeleteis there any way to put some counter for comments or the most comments in blogger like WP plugin?
ReplyDeleteHi, I checked the box next to Comments Count (Blogger) and made sure that my comments feed was enabled in my blogger settings, but my feed still does not show the comments count. Can someone please help me figure out how to get this to work? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSophia, Same problem here. I'd love a solution...
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, this feature no longer works. I hope it will be fixed soon, even though FeedBurner has a lot of other problems lately.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem. No feedflare blogger comments on my reader posts. Bummer! We need a FIX!
ReplyDeleteIt works just perfect, thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteDoesnt work for me... :( (Blogger)
ReplyDeletethis feedflare worked fine for me until last week when it suddenly stopped working. i did not uncheck the feedflare but i have had many troubles with getting ti to work in the past. for the number of people that have this problem you would think a solution would be available.
ReplyDeletea good example of Goog acting in its self-interest, rather than that of the actual content providers.
ReplyDeleteThe feedflare works for me and I don't see how this proves that Google acts in its own interest. There's also a feedflare for WordPress and FeedBurner has an API that lets you create your own feedflare.
ReplyDeleteAlex_Chitu, I just now subscribed to your BlogSpot's feed and did not see the Comments Count there. Did you turn it off? I ask because the Count Comment FeedFlare does not work for my Blogger/BlogSpot either, and I would love to get insight from someone for whom it works.
ReplyDeleteNever mind my Oct. 21 comment. The Comments Count suddenly started working on my feeds yesterday morning. This involved no change on my part and, in my search for a solution, I read that many other people had problems with the BlogSpot's Comment Count FeedFlare, so I guess that it just was not working between Oct. 2009 and now. Hurray that it is back! :-)
