Blogger Adds Threaded Comments

Blogger's comment system has been updated and it now supports threading. You can now reply to a comment and read the entire conversation. "It is now much easier to differentiate between whether someone is making a general comment on the thread, or responding to another comment on the thread," informs Google.

The threaded view is only available for embedded comments and it requires to enable full-text blog feeds.

If you've manually customized your blog's template, you may not see the new feature. One way to solve this issue is to reset widgets. In the new Blogger interface, go to the Template tab, click "Backup/Restore" and download your template, then click "Edit HTML", "Proceed" and "Revert widget templates to default". If something doesn't look right, you can always go back to the old template by clicking "Backup / Restore" and uploading the template you've saved.

    1. I use HTML5 and I get 999 errors when I checked it on http://validator.w3.org/

      I hope blogger fix <data:post.commentHtml/>
so it can be valid on HTML5

    2. I hope Blogger reveals the code for it so we can manually customize it.

More importantly, I hope Blogger cleans up their template code so we can finally have 100% valid templates.

  4. Now. Will Google+ get threaded comments on posts? This may not be necessary with +Mentions, but it is sometimes hard to follow a conversation on Google+ when many people start +Mentioning different people in comments, and trying to find the comment that another comment refers to can be difficult.

    1. You definitely should suggest that to Google.

    2. I rather need it on Youtube. Most of the @mentions I want to lookup there are unfindable, like they are removed or 25 pages down. Google+ isn't that bad, but it would be nice to have threaded conversations there too.

  8. I used to have nice numbering to the right of the comments with a nice little bubble. Now it is gone. I have deleted the code and want to find some other way to number the comments. Any ideas?

  11. This new change is just to organize the look of the comment section right?
It still doesn't send notification when a person replies to your comment?
Which means we still need to click the "subscribe by email" link?
    Am I right?
