Going to google.com, I saw a new design that puts the navigation on the left side of the page. Maybe they try to make the homepage design consistent with
the new SERP look.
Here's

ReplyDeleteWhy is Google's homepage so LAME?
ReplyDeleteI think Yahoo does a better job, recognizing that users want to personalize the site they use every day.
RE anonymous,
ReplyDeletewhich is it that you use everyday, Google or Yahoo? If it is Google than you are definitely able to personalize your homepage. All you have to do is click the Personalized Home link (upper right hand corner). In fact I think Google does a better job at letting users personalize their pages than Yahoo.
Google have the right idea with there design, it's been the same since as long as I've been using it and its its simplicisty and results that make me use it. I have recently set up my Personalized Google page and am findiing it fantastic, its replaced my rss reader pretty much. A great company, doing more for the user than any other.
ReplyDeleteGoogle is so plain why dont you make it more atractive. like yahoo. Google only has a typing bar and thats it, but yahoo has all this other stuff but for some reson i stick with google because its easy to use and its easy to do stuff
ReplyDeleteI think that the google homepage has been lik,e this for a very long time so i think you should change it to somthing better coulorful and more attractive so it looks alot better try it see wat you think
ReplyDeleteSo...Then how do you stiff up the Google page on only your very own computer? You know, like change it and make a backgroud to it or something...
ReplyDeleteUse iGoogle to personalize Google's homepage with themes and gadgets.
ReplyDeleteI want the plain homepage background. If Google want to offer a background design facility, why not point out this is available by adding it to the toolbar?
ReplyDeleteWhy should I have to design a blank background?
