Remove Deleted Videos from YouTube Playlists

Just because you add a YouTube video to a playlist doesn't mean you'll be able to watch it in the future. Many YouTube videos are removed because of copyright infringement, but some of them are deleted by the uploaders.

YouTube now shows a warning at the top of the page when some of the videos from a playlist have been deleted from YouTube. The warning is only displayed when you open the playlist and there's also a button that lets you remove the videos that are no longer available.

Unfortunately, YouTube no longer shows the title of a video after it's been deleted. This was useful because you could find similar videos and add them to the playlist. Now that YouTube replaces the title with "deleted video" and the video page only shows an error message, YouTube could automatically remove the missing videos.

{ Thanks, Sterling. }

  6. This is why I always copy and paste the name of the video into the "add note to playlist" box that appears once you've added a video.

    1. I google the video ID and usually find the name as some sites have already shared the video.

  7. So part win part lose. Back several years ago I had the idea of "curating" a list of cool music videos. It was not uncommon for some to get removed.

  11. I got 7 videoes which are deleted, and I have to remove them manually, cause the button does not work.

  12. When that button to "Remove deleted videos" appeared, it would not necessarily deleted all appropriate videos from the playlist. My experience was that it deleted 50% or less. The rest I had to deleted manually. I have noticed that in the past few months, they have improved it and it now seems to work as advertised and delete 100% of the appropriate videos from the playlist.

    then actions button will be enabled
    then click on remove from list

  15. When I display my Favorites list, the system does not display any type of warning box at all. It simply shows 19 video placeholders, with 5 of them displaying a graphic with 3 dots in a box and the words [Deleted Video].

    If I click on one of these deleted videos I receive the following error:

    _CSS_URL', "\/\/s.ytimg.com\/yts\/cssbin\/www-feedprivacydialog-vflb3wRZ-.css"); yt.setAjaxToken('feed_privacy_ajax', "N6qOv8mf93SqvVY9XFE-zWon9ld8MTM2MDExMDgxNUAxMzYwMDI0NDE1"); yt.setConfig('FEED_PRIVACY_LIGHTBOX_ENABLED', true); yt.setConfig({'SBOX_JS_URL': "\/\/s.ytimg.com\/yts\/jsbin\/www-searchbox-vflFZHLof.js",'SBOX_SETTINGS': {"REQUEST_LANGUAGE": "en", "USE_HTTPS": true, "CHIP_PARAMETERS": {}, "CLOSE_ICON_URL": "\/\/s.ytimg.com\/yts\/img\/icons\/close-vflrEJzIW.png", "REQUEST_DOMAIN": "us", "IS_HH": true, "HAS_ON_SCREEN_KEYBOARD": false, "SESSION_INDEX": 0, "PSUGGEST_TOKEN": "hPhFs3Rzuele-xA13jdYsw", "SHOW_CHIP": false, "EXPERIMENT_ID": -1},'SBOX_LABELS': {"SUGGESTION_DISMISS_LABEL": "Dismiss", "SUGGESTION_DISMISSED_LABEL": "Suggestion dismissed"}});

    If I click on the Edit Playlist button, it takes me to Favorites screen in the Video Manager section, and does not display an of the deleted videos, so I cannot remove them from the list. It only displays 14 videos in this view, but still shows a small box at the top, to the right of the word Favorites, with the number 19 inside the box, indicating how many videos are supposedly Favorites.

    Can someone please help me remove these deleted videos from my Favorites list? Thanks!

  16. I totally agree with you. It really affected my online shop when Youtube decided to delete the source of my uploaded videos to my website. I tried retrieving the videos t no avail. It's difficult if you're into business and lose your clients because of unhappy visit to your site. I learned my lessons. This website - http://www.beupon.com/, helped a lot to protect my videios from future deletions. I'm glad I discovered this link.
