If you receive a lot of spam in Gmail, you may not like to see the growing number of spam messages. It's easy to hide the spam counter - just create a new filter with the following details:
Has the words: is:spam
Check Delete it.
Check Also apply filter to * conversations below.
All the spam messages will be moved to trash, where you can check for false positives. Alternatively, you could set the filter to mark the messages as read instead of deleting them.

When you click "Next Step", a message pops up saying:
ReplyDeleteWarning: Filter searches containing "label:", "in:", or "is:" criteria are not recommended, as these criteria will never match incoming mail. Do you still want to continue to the next step?
Just FYI, you should click OK because it works even though the error message says it won't.

Unfortunately is:spam doesn't work there. Anyone have a fix?

ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you!! Gmail's spam filter is nearly flawless for me. Now I can just automatically send the junk to trash and let Gmail empty it for me in 30 days.
ReplyDeleteVince, rather than moving your spam to trash, you can just set Yahoo to empty spam immediately. (I would choose that option in Gmail if it were an option.) Under the Spam section in Mail Options:
Control SpamGuard: Make sure the check box next to "Automatically send suspected spam to my Spam folder" is clicked.
Empty Spam folder: Choose "Immediately"

ReplyDeleteOh yea. That worked great. My Yahoo mail blocked all spam, but I really hated the animated crap to the side. Now, with this "is:spam" trick, I don't have to watch the counter. And I don't need to go to trash anyway, because its "trash". Perfect.

ReplyDeleteI have 10971 spams now, and it empties each month, YIKES! I think that's about 2 weeks worth. I you could just invent a tracker/virus to kill only the spammers computers, you could sell a ton of them.
Getting rid of spammers off the net would be great!
