"Sorry! Sadly, this service has been shut down. Much of Code Search's functionality is available at Google Code Hosting including search for Chromium. We're very sorry for the inconvenience."

Even though Google says that the service has been shut down, it hasn't. Just go to http://code.google.com/codesearch and you'll see the old homepage. All of the old features are still available and the results aren't restricted to Google Code Hosting projects.

ReplyDeleteI only discovered GCS recently, while looking for a good way to search the Android source. It was sad to simultaneously find such an awesome tool and discover that it was being killed.
ReplyDeleteI just tried the link you provided. It appears to me that the interface is there but the search engine doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteAn alternative to GCS (when they do shut down for real) is SymbolHound: http://www.symbolhound.com/codesearch

Shutting down code search is as bad as censoring search results. Poor move Google.
ReplyDeleteCode search should just be another search type (images, maps, news, etc).
