Something You Can't Find Using Google

Google Profiles, the public pages that include information about Google users, continue to add new questions. Some of the recent additions: "where I grew up", "where I live now", "places I've lived", "current company", "companies I've worked for", "current school", "schools I've attended", "my superpower".

There's even a metaphorical field "something I can't find using Google". What would you write if you were to answer that question in your Google profile?

Note: for now, only 118 profiles are indexed by Google.

  1. Have you seen the simple UI, maybe a mobile version for Google Android or Nokia phones?

And Google's sharing button, like digg for opensocial/friendconnect?

  2. Congrats to google, they are helping attackers get around those pesky password recovery questions. All that is missing is your mothers maiden name and your first pets name.

  7. Soon, Google will have a full fledged profile of you, which includes your personal details, social preferences, tastes, spiritual activity, religious and political views, sexual orientation, contacts, friends, songs, videos, AND what makes you happy, cry, sad, joyous; All this from your search history, books you read, sites you access (thru search), groups you are part of, videos you see, blogs you maintain/access, docs and photos you store, items you buy, shops you visit, news you read, maps you navigate.... well there's more and more traces out there on Google that you leave behind.

And it can be used to target you, psycho-analyse your actions, and predict what you may do next ... even create a virtual clone of you. Simply collect all this data of any individual and follow the trends to create a pattern and finally a virtual image.

Did you say Privacy? Imagine a foreign company taking over a small American company; now imagine a larger company being taken over; now imagine a terrorist organization taking over the largest organizations using their front-nd businesses. And well privacy statements can always be changed.

  9. I can't wait for the day when Google's stockholders become hungry for another "revenue stream" and demand the following language be inserted into the "user agreement":

I hereby authorize Google to sell summaries of my personal information, including web sites visited, to third party data compilers; or agree to pay a fee directly to Google each month to ensure confidentiality of my personal information.
