Use Gmail To Copy Text From Restricted PDF Documents

Some PDF documents have restrictions: you can't copy them or you can't print them. If you have such a PDF and you have to copy a fragment from the text, just send it to yourself in Gmail. When you receive the message, just click "View as HTML" next to the attachment link.

  12. This is a good method but you can also use http://www.marqed.com which has a specific tool designed for copying text from a pdf document and pasting it to your clipboard. It's a free webapp made for students. I like it.

  16. Man, even the Ensode website couldn't do the one I have. It must have some type of mega-encryption.

  21. It's now 2 steps. Next to the attachment in gmail, you have two options: View and Download. Click on View. This gives you screenshots where you cannot select text at all. However, now click on View in the upper left, and then on Plain HTML. Then it works. You can select and copy text.

  22. It still works just then, thank you so much for the tips!! Very useful!

The gmail works for me on a windows computer but i am having trouble with the mac computer. It shows the option to view or download (same as my windows computer) but when it opens i can't select anything. Nor can i find the option under view for 'plain html'. Does anyone know what happens here????
