YouTube Highlights Previously Viewed Videos

If you are logged in, YouTube saves a list of all the videos you watch, but there's no interface that displays them. When you perform a search, YouTube shows a label next to the videos you've previously viewed.

Google shows a similar label next to the search results you've already visited from Google search and you can find the number of visits and the date of the most recent visit. The difference is that Google shows your search history and makes it searchable.

  1. Alex, there is a history in YouTube for a list of the videos you have watched, but mine never seems to be correct....

  2. That's just a list of recently viewed videos, not your full history.

  3. Hello, I noticed this a while ago and it appears that this info is permanently linked with your account for those concerned about privacy.

Also, I want to know if there's a way to display all videos as "longform" when watching them so I can get access to the extra features like "lights off".

  4. This is a very useful feature. I've often run into videos I already checked searching for something.
Maybe an option to set the exact period to define a timeframe to "previously" would be helpful.

  8. I want to be able to turn it on or off. Currently I want it nowhere to be seen. I delete my history for a reason. I am linked to so many videos that I don't even want, but would be very embarassing if someone thought I watched them.

  9. same. for privacy reasons I think there should be an option to turn this feature off. I'd rather not be constantly reminded of being under the surveillance of big brother to be honest. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.
Can we not let the past be the past. Does everything we do have to be chained to us and follow us until we eventually think enough is enough and we discontinue with our custom with youtube. Because, in fairness, that's the way it's going.
This may sound a little extreme, and I understand how the function is useful. But one man's useful is another man's burden.
Youtube is a community of difference: please cater for them.

  10. If you don't want anyone to think you watched them.... then why did you click on them? maybe you should make sure you sign off your account or not look at these "embarassing" videos...

  11. Sometimes you end up click things that you didn't mean to that may be embarrassing, but youtube lists it a previously viewed if you like it or not. This way it makes you look like you were watching a video when you weren't. It would be better if they listed "previously viewed" on videos that you fully watched.

  12. If you don't want a youtube history, then don't log in. That's the only way it follows you.
