YouTube Feed View

There's a new option to customize YouTube's homepage when you are logged in: the feed view. YouTube orders chronologically the videos from all the other sections you've selected: featured videos, promoted videos (which can't be disabled), videos from your subscriptions, recommendations, friend activity.

Unfortunately, YouTube's promoted videos can't be filtered, recommended videos constantly change and there's no actual feed generated by YouTube. You can obtain a feed that aggregates the latest videos from your subscriptions using a Yahoo Pipe.

YouTube shows a similar recent activity view in your channel, but you need to explicitly make it public. The activity view can show your latest ratings, recent comments, video uploads and subscriptions.

  2. The implementation right now sucks!
Agree, Its good that I get a feed view on home page.. but once I click on any video, there is no way from that video page to navigate between other videos of the feed view.. One has to come back to home page and click on next video..

  3. Youtube custom feeds can be easily created, even without using external services like yahoo pipes, this video shows how to do it:

  4. Yes, YouTube's API lets you subscribe to search feeds, individual channels, playlists etc., but you can't get a feed that lists the latest videos from the channels you've already subscribed inside YouTube. The Yahoo pipe linked above merges YouTube's channel feeds and sorts the items.

  5. this pipe creates a feed from up to 150 subscriptions... not just from 50 like the feed above...

  6. To say that YouTube's promoted videos cannot be hidden is not entirely true. People with Firefox do it all the time, there is custom made filter just for that. Probably explains the controversy with Firefox. But more important is that if you happen to be using Firefox there are also also a lot of different sytles you can add to the page. For instance you can make the video screen larger and on top and put all the vid details on bottom, this sort of thing. And you can make the background black or grey, which really helps the eyes if you spend alot of time on YouTube. White background does not really cut it when it comes to video

  8. The Feed is an awful, awful, AWFUL view - and now it's standard? What?! Are you people on drugs? Make it go away! Unwatched recent videos please, not that so and so favourited a video. I could care less.

  10. Please REMOVE THE FEED! I'm stuck with this horrible view and I want my old homepage back. It's hard to use and it's really messy. Please at least make this a side option instead so we can choose between the standard one and "the feed" one (I'm pretty sure nobody wants "the feed" but whatever..)

  11. I wouldn't hate the Feed View as much if I could also have my recent unwatched subscription videos at the top like normal, but apparently it's not an option any more. This is horrid.
