iPhone

The new shiny iPhone from Apple promises to bring more from a computer experience to a mobile phone. It only has one button and it's smart enough to show you a context-sensitive keyboard on the screen. This way, you have more space for the screen. You can also browse the Internet with Safari, zoom in the page, enjoy Google Maps, read mail from POP3 and IMAP accounts, have widgets that push information, and an easy way to sync with your computer. If Yahoo Go is brilliant, this is a new way to look at a phone.

"iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers."

  3. @Anjanesh and @Mysterius: It will only be sold through Cingular for 2 years (in the US at any rate).

I doubt that you will be able to buy it from the apple store.

  4. I can't figure will iPhone offer wi-fi internet connectivity or it will rely on GPRS/3G technologies.

  6. Why not in store?

It will be launched in June. Probably is not yet ready and it needs the approval of the Federal Communications Commission.

  7. And it may never come out as iPhone at all.
They are being sued by Cisco because the company they acquired had already TM'd it in '96.
They had been in discussion with them over it, but it looks like Apple don't care...
    I knew this would happen.

  8. Yeah, and it's not very different from LG KE850. At least, if you look at these photos. Steve Jobs mentioned about a huge number of patents filed for iPhone.

  9. Re: Cisco suit

Lets see, call it the iPhone, and either:

    - Cisco sues, Apple gets more publicity.
    - Cisco doesn't sue - trademark abandonment
    - Cisco wins: apple changes name and everyone calls it the iPhone anyway
    - Cisco loses: call it the iPhone

    Seems like a no-brainer, no-lose situation.

  12. Orb can do the same thing better if you have a 360 or PS3, or just want to browse live TV anywhere in the world.I have found that, even with this great Apple TV we still need a video converter (things like Apple TV Converter) in case to put our favourite movies onto Apple TV before playing them on TV Screen.

  14. Well, now that the hype is all over, it must be said that the iPhone has hardly lived up to the hype. Although, one has to admit that the hype was not the fault of Apple, but more the fault of the media (old and traditional.) But the phone has certainly not delivered, while coming at a very hefty price. And even if the deal is only with Cingular for two years, it's obvious that after two years they would have released something new. Will they go with Cingular again? I hope not. It's bad for their business. But even if they didn't this time, the phone simply does not deliver what it ought to.

  15. iPhone is in everybody’s must-have list nowadays. Here in our place, it’s quite expensive so not everyone has it.
