Google Mobile App for iPhone started to become a bloated app, just like Google Toolbar. Instead of developing new applications, Google adds extra features to the Google Mobile App.
The latest new feature added to the application is Google Goggles, a visual search tool that helps you identify objects in a picture. "Computer vision is a hard problem and Google Goggles is still a Labs product. It works well for things such as landmarks, logos and the covers of books, DVDs and games. However, it doesn't yet work for some things you might want to try like animals, plants or food," explains Google.
Google Goggles is available in the Google Mobile App if you use an iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 or an iPhone 4. Goggles is also a standalone Android application.

ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing this to the iPhone - I seriously respect google for continuing to release software for what could be considered a competitors platform.
ReplyDeleteI have a iPhonev3GS with OS 4.xx (updated yesterday)and it doesn't show I'm my google mobile apps.
ReplyDeleteAlso not Avalon in apple store, but periodically when j use my camera the goggles squares start to dance up my screen, and there it is!
Any ideas ?
Comment is the difficulty in obtaining the APP for Googles Goggles , for a 4G Apple I Phone, could it be developed to make these procedures easier or simpler. Thank You for your time!!
ReplyDeleteHow to use pictures from your photo library with the iPhone???
ReplyDeleteThat's a really vague question and I don't see how it relates to this post.
DeleteWe are talking about Google Goggles here and I think his comment is very relevant here. We are talking about a new revolutionary search option. You have heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, yes? Well what if you had a picture of someone and you wanted to know if that picture was anywhere on the Internet? And if so, where and what information was attached to it? I had clicked on the comment hoping that there was an inteligent answer to his question, because I happen to have a iPhone 3GS with a picture I wish to do a search on. But like it says above, Google Goggles is still in its infancy in developing in the LAB.
ReplyDelete+1 Google Search sent me here because I'm looking for how to load a picture from the iPhone library into Google Goggles.
