Two weeks ago, I posted how to embed a YouTube and make it start from a certain point. Now you can do the same thing for YouTube's watch pages: just append #t=XXmYYs to a YouTube URL, where XX is the number of minutes and YY is the number of seconds. For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBNDYggyesc#t=24m30s.
Google Video has a similar way to link within a video: add #XXmYYs to a URL. YouTube implemented another feature from Google Video: when you mention a time value in a comment, YouTube automatically creates a link that takes you to that sequence.
It seems that YouTube gradually adds all the features from Google Video: captions, MP4 downloads (not yet linked from the interface), theater view, but Google Video doesn't receive too much attention. I wonder if Google will disable the video uploading feature from Google Video and migrate all the existing videos to YouTube.

Does any one knows if there an option to add a stop at a certain post in an addition to the start?
ReplyDeleteI think you can only do that if you use YouTube's API. A site that uses the API and provides permalinks for YouTube sequences is Splicd.
ReplyDeleteGoogle Video makes no sense. Everything should be on Youtube and they need to better organize the videos on the site.
ReplyDeleteGoogle Video's player is so much nicer, I think, mainly because Youtube's player STINKS at search. If I click on a position in the search bar where I want to start watching from, it more often than not takes me backward way too far than I clicked, to the nearest keyframe or something. And some videos seem to only have *one* keyframe so you can't search in the video at all! Google Video's player is far superior just because of that, IMO. I don't care at all for all the new features Youtube's player is getting. Google Video and Youtube is like Google Talk and Microsoft Live Messenger, respectively. One is sleak and lean and one is bloated with children's features and buttons.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know wether there is a MP3-Player, that allows for a similar thing within MP3 - Link Within a MP3 Audio?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think the video means? How does it make you feel? Do you relate to it at all? Do you know people like that mechanical doll?
ReplyDeleteIt's only around 4 minutes long and it is safe for work/school/kids.
I still need help, can you put in an out bound like in a youtube video? I have a marketing company and want to make a series of help videos with a link back to my site. Any Help?
ReplyDeleteI watched it a few weeks back, Its a really good documentary. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteWhy there is google video when you have youtube? Why don't the dissolve google videos into youtube so the user can enjoy all the apps and functions of both in one platform.
