Include Google Gadgets Into Any Page

Google announces that some of the gadgets available for Google Personalized Homepage can be embedded into any web page. The list of the gadgets includes: Google Calendar Viewer, Google Calculator, US Traffic Information, Moon Phase, Picasa Album Viewer and more. This way, you can enrich your web page with live information.

Google gives an example of usage:

"For example, let's say you are in charge of your club soccer team's website, and you want to add a current weather forecast so your fans can plan for your games or you want to include a daily brainteaser on your site without having to come up with something new every day. Google Gadgets lets you do this easily. Just visit the directory of "Google Gadgets for your webpage" to find gadgets that you'd like to add to your own page and select your preferences for how the gadget will appear on your page. Then, copy and paste the HTML from the window into the HTML code for your own website. It's an easy way to get the content you need and want without spending hours writing code!"

Previously, some gadgets could be included in Google Page Creator if you selected the experimental features.

  1. Anyone knows if I can remove URL address from a robots.txt file? So it will look something like this

    Disallow: /*
    Disallow: /https*

  2. I tried to add Babelfish to the sidebar of my blog with the width on display settings changed to 220px instead of 320px, but Babelfish nevertheless ended up loading at 320px width, jutting out over the sidebar. Harrumph.

  3. I have also had trouble changing the scale of the gadgets. I tried to include several games on my webpage, but could not make the box they appeared in large enough, scroll bars kept coming up making the games unplayable. I tried changing the dimensions in the google gadget editor and the .xml itself, no dice.

Any one have a fix to this?

  4. I have tried to add gadget on my website but nothing happens! I have pasted code on my xhtml page and I get nothing? Am I doing something wrong??

    Best regards

  5. When I bring up my webpage, google gadets won't display. Refresh the page and they work fine. Why is this?

  6. How can I add a gadget to my page on the fly?
eg. I have a textbox where user enter's the Code(script tag given by Google Gadget to be embedded) and I want that script tag to be added to the page dynamically using Javascript.

But as I do this, it completely refreshes the page :(

Any idea what am I doing wrong?

  7. I am trying to put the google gadget code on my website, but nothing is visible when I see the site. Am I missing anything?
