Google Browser - Behind The Story

Google Browser, a prank I made for April Fool's Day, is the most viewed post from Google Operating System Blog. The list of sites that linked to the post is huge and includes important sites, like: Slashdot, Spiegel, Metafilter, Wikipedia, Google Blogoscoped. The stats are provided by Google Analytics.

Google Browser is a rumour that spread in 2004, based on the fact that Google hired many Mozilla sofware engineers and also registered domain. In an interview with eWeek, Mozilla president Mitchell Baker said: "The code base is open for companies to do what they wish to do, but we're not working with Google on a special browser."
