  1. I suppose this is a rare instance, but I've had gmail notifier since i first got my gmail account about a year or so ago (maybe longer?) and i've NEVER had a single problem!

  2. All you have to do is click remember..and the message will not pop up when you start your computer =\

  3. "All you have to do is click remember..and the message will not pop up when you start your computer =\"
Not true, it still pops up and you have to click "OK". Just switch to Google Talk, people! It's got a built in notifier, plus integration with Talk and your contact list.

  4. Hello all,

I can not remove my gmail notifier!!!!

Is there any other way, besides going to control panel, add remove programm...???

    Thank you

  5. I, too, would like to remove the gmail notifier. The instructions say:

    To uninstall the Gmail Notifier:

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
    2. Open Add or Remove Programs .
    3. Highlight Google Gmail Notifier in the list of programs currently installed on your computer.
    4. Click Remove.

Unfortunately, Google Gmail Notifier, or anything similar, does not appear in the list of installed programs. WinXP.

  6. Are you sure you don't use Gmail Notifier, the third-party Firefox extension? If you do, the extension can be uninstalled from Tools > Add-ons.

  7. Thanks, Alex -- Gmail Notifier does not appear in my list o' FF Add-Ons.

The icon looks like a little gray envelope in the system tray. It pops up a little box telling me about new gmails.

But I recently installed Google Talk which has its own notifier, so now I'm being over-notified.

  8. Try reinstalling the application and then go to Add/remove programs. If you still can't find it, close the Notifier, go to Start > Run, type msconfig and disable Gmail from the list of startup items.

  9. Thanks, Alex.

If I was more observant then I would have seen that the popup displays the Mozilla Thunderbird logo, and that TB has its own notifier which can be turned off an on under Tools > Options > General.

    My bad.

  10. My Gmail Notifier [NOT GTalk] hasn't worked for three, four days now. It's says 'Service is unavailable'. Anybody else having trouble?

  11. I am trying to uninstall Gmail Notifier because the envelop symbol is constantly showing 'checking mail'. However, when I go into Control Panel and 'uninstall' Notifier, I get the 'Uninstalling' popup with: Execute: "C:\Program Files\Google\Gmail Notifier\gnotify.exe" -unregister
However, the green progress never gets by the start so I have been unable to uninstall the notifier from this Vista system. Anybody have any solutions?

  12. the check box next to each of my emails doesn't have a right hand side and I can't attach a file to an out going email unless I revert to an older version of g-mail. ???
